So, they say that you are really absorbing the language when you start to think and dream in it...well I am happy to say that I have had my first dream in German! : )
I was hoping for a more exciting dream but in my dream I was reading and writing in German...doing German "Hausaufgabe" (homework) to be exact - not very exciting but progress nonetheless.
[I wonder how common it is to read and write in your dreams? I do this frequently and when I wake up I can remember what I read as if it were in a book next to me. Strange.]
Hopefully my dreams will get better! ; )

You've already had a dream in German!?!?!? I'm still waiting to have one in Spanish! Maybe I should go away to a language school!
I do dream in Spanish - I speak lots of Spanish gibberish that makes sense in my dreams - but then this happened about three months in with Mercedes - so for me I don't think it is a sign of fluency:)
Just to be perfectly clear, I am no where near fluent in German! ; ) I was just happy that my mind was starting to think in German...I used to dream in French a lot when I was studying French. I still have so much to learn in German and today is my first day back in the "real" world so I get to practice. One problem is that I am still unskilled in the language but conscious of all the grammar rules so I think I am at a hurdle now that I learned the grammar but it hasn't clicked yet in my speaking. Oh well...little by little. I still have some difficulty reading as well. I was translating an example in class and I said it meant "Give me your money or I will shoot" and I translated it as "Give me your money or I will SHIT" which is a whole different kind of threat! ; ) ...and so it goes.
